We spent some time wandering around the rest of the building, marvelling at what it must have been like in it's heyday, because it's by no means
shabby
now, despite all the negative reviews that caused us concern before we went.

- The rooms are
shabby
- paint chipping, water damage on ceiling that's been painted over, black scuff marks on wallpaper.

How did this Astoria come to be so far below the standards of other Astoria's and Hilton's? The lobby is fine but beyond that the rooms are
shabby
with worn carpeting, fixtures and dated bathrooms.

shabby
and worn.

While we enjoyed our stay at the Waldorf Astoria, we found our room to be a bit
