1. the renovated rooms have an awful toilet smell.
2. Not only was the room hot and humid with the smell of mildew, but the window was completely boarded up so no sunlight could enter in.
3. When we arrived to the room it was small even for NYC standards and had an overwhelming smell of mildew.
4. As the rooms on the lower floors looked and smelled like they were in need of a major over haul we did have to make a request for some of the people in our party to be relocated since the mold was so bad in their room.
5. But after calling the hotel, all my fears disappeared, We were upgraded to one of the new rooms, U could still smell the newness in the halls, I've never seen doors that tall in a hotel, I loved everything about the room.
6. The first room we were put in had the most dreadful smell.
7. When we got to the room, it smelled really bad.
8. I requested feather pillows which were delivered, the room was stocked with only the bouncy foam ones, and the bedding had a bit of a musty smell.
9. Well I started in an old room and it smelled like like grandmothers Florida house.
10. He stated that a maid reported that the room smelled like smoke so they charged my card.
11. I insisted that the charge be removed since there was no way the room smelled like smoke since we are non-smokers.
12. My husband and I are both non-smokers plus I would have been the first to complain about having a room smelling like smoke.
13. I go up to my room, there is about an inch of dust ALL OVER the room, broken blinds, visable mold in every portion of the room, the bathroom smelled strongly of urine, black crust all over the bed, etc. Needless to say, I left the next morning and stayed at another hotel the rest of my business trip.
14. Check-in was fine, the room was sub par (a little worn down, smelled like cigarettes, peeling wall paper, dirty/grimy remote and telephone), nothing I couldn't handle.

16. The staff was terrible, the room was horrid and smelled terrible, changed rooms and mildly better, for 530 bucks a night.
17. Unfortunately, the room was almost as stuffy as the first one, and the smell was even worse.
18. The rooms are small, smell like mildew/mold and the bed was somewhat uncomfortable.
19. When we first got into the room we could smell that odor (like a older woman's perfume) however it disappated by the evening.

21. Other than the smell of smoke in the first room, which is at no fault of the hotel, the rooms were clean.
22. When we arrived our room smelled of cigarette smoke.
23. When we came into the room, it smelled like mildew.
24. I called housekeeping, and when we returned from our afternoon out, the room smelled lemon fresh, and there was a new shower curtain in the bathroom.
25. Their small rooms smell moldy and are crowded and poorly furnished.
26. The room was fine, although a moldy smell from the bathroom greeted me.
27. The rooms smelled, the carpets were filthy, the wall paper was peeling off the walls, the bathrooms were dirty and the desks were literally falling apart.
28. Because of the drenched carpet, the entire room had started to smell like mold.
29. Said the other rooms were even smaller!) It also was musty smelling.
30. It was confortable, everything is near, has subway station at the street corner, the only thing is that it still smells like if somebody smoke in the room.
31. The maid service did leave the room neat and went beyond the call of duty, but I just couldn't get past the smell.
32. To be a new room, the carpeting smelled musty, very musty.
33. I arrived in mu room to be greeted by the smell of smoke in this 'smoke free' hotel.
34. Once we got a room later, the carpets were dirty and dingy, and the shower curtain had obvious mould which made the bathroom smell bad.
35. The fact it has a 4 star rating amazes me, you don't even get the usual amenities information package in your room so you have no idea what amenities the hotel has to offer even down to the simplest things such as where the ice machine is, the rooms themselves are not very clean, the carpets are stained, the rooms smell terrible and the second room we were placed in had these little bugs all over the place.
36. All rooms supposedly are smoke-free, but my room smelled like they'd instituted that policy the night before.
37. This wasnt ideal seeing that we were not planning on spending time/money inside the hotelThe room they upgraded us to was tired as well - the bathroom smelled like mildew and the comforter had a unidentifiable stain on it (YUCK!) - The staff was friendly and definitely understanding of our frustration with the elevator - despite that I wouldn't go there again because of the dirtiness really.
