4. We all met up in the bar later and were amazed at the prices, $107 for 2 glasses of wine, a tonic water and a single malt whisky, but hey we thought, it's New York.

5. Beautiful hotel inside, great location in the city, plenty bars and restaurants nearby and a few blocks from Times Square but it is overly expensive, even for New York, and a couple of the staff could use some help with their attitude to paying guests.

9. Sitting having a nightcap in any of the bars was a very pleasant experience with good service and great for soaking up the late night atmosphere of the hotel.

10. However, we saw a sign by the elevators called 'The Starlight Room', which we thought was perhaps another bar or a rooftop bar, so we up we went in the elevator, which opened up to the most grand and beautiful room I've ever seen.
