1. The furniture was tattered and torn as well as weak and broken table legs on the table closest to the window.

2. When we arrived we were given a subpar room (a large area broken and with rusted surface around the bathtub drain, no park view), that the manager insisted had just been renovated.

3. The location is good and the room was sizeable enough but attention to detail needs improving - there was a broken light in the bathroom and the phone wasn't working.
"Not great service " Read full review on TripAdvisor   11/21/2011 Vote
4. The bedside light was broken and the marble top on the beside table was wobbling and looked like it was going to fall off.

5. I moved from the first room which had broken curtains, a cracked bath and a thick film of dirt over the mini bar (M&M's, water etc on the desk) that was beyond disgusting.
"Filthiest hotel - needs to be renovated " Read full review on TripAdvisor   10/16/2009 Vote
6. Stayed there on sept 4th, booked room with view, not available on arrival date, given to us the day after without compensation, one luggage piece left with bell man on arrival, restored to us broken, hotel refused to acknowledge its responsibility, all that this hotel can offer is a room with spectacular view if you are accommodated in upper floors (20th to 45th) - trees cover all view up to 10th floor - and as long as you may be given the booked room on arrival, see if valuables hotel policy suites you, there are 2 other hotels on the same avenue Carlton Ritz and Jumeira Essex house, see if they are an option for you before staying at the Helmsley which I do not recommend at all poor breakfast, staff friendly at the restaurant only in 3 words to be avoided.

9. The hotel itself has seen far better days with torn and worn carpeting, banged up walls and furniture and stained fixtures and broken tiles in the bath.

10. Our first room was one the older rooms and virtually every piece of furniture was broken or damaged in some way.
