1. I had to request a room change because the room smelled of mold and mildew and it appeared someone had dropped an iron onto the floor and left it for too long because there was still an imprint of the iron on the carpet.
2. Our second room smelled better, but there were chips on the bathroom door.
3. The hotel is dated and rooms did have a bit of a funky smell, but not something I care about as long as it's clean and comfortable.
4. When we found our room, we walked in to a smell that can only be described as dirty.
5. The halls and room stunk of cheap-smelling disinfectant.
6. The hotel is older and has the smells that might come with an older hotel, but our room was clean, the beds were comfortable and we had a nice flat screen TV.
7. Water slow to come out of pipes, rooms smell like Smoking Rooms from the 1960's.
8. The rooms have a smell of moisture in the air and are very old looking.
9. Paint peeling from the walls & ceiling, and the room just smelled.
10. The room was quite tired and smelled of smoke.
11. Our room (and indeed the entire floor) had a strong, nauseating, musty smell that stayed with us even when we returned.
12. The room did have a mildewy smell.
13. We booked for the 4th of July, got there July 2 and our room smelled of mildew.
14. Carpets were well worn in places from traffic and our room had a distinctive cigarette smell.
15. The next room was tolerable but it had that same horrible smell and dampness with a few mosquitoes to boot.
16. Room was spacious and clean, and smelled great.
17. I called the operator and they said it was the same air refreshener they use in each room, so smell would be the same.
18. The rooms smell musty.
19. The rooms smell musty.
20. Finally after about an hour of complaining they came up with an available room ( after they told us they were booked?) It was close to 3am by time we go the new room so we had no choice but to sleep there, in the 2nd room the smell was a little better but the damp, mildrew stench was still present.
21. The whole room looked and smelled clean.
22. I did not notice any unpleasant smells, in hallways or in our room, and whilst a lick of paint may well be needed, the place certainly doesn't look dowdy.
23. Odd smell in hallways but not in room.
24. The room did not smell funny as some people mentioned in other reviews.
25. The room smelled, the bathroom door wouldn't close completely, the bed frame was broken, the valet took 30 minutes to get my car (and came back with the wrong one after that), and to top it all off was a pair of dirty panties from a previous guest in the room next to the bed.
26. Our room smelled of mold and sewage.
27. The room and hallway had a funny smell to it.
28. The hallway smelled worse than the room and needed repairs to the walls and baseboards.
29. They gave us the room next door which had a real funky smell.
30. Granted, it was a smoking room, and my husband smokes, but hell, I'd much rather smell cigarettes than overpowering chemical air freshener fumes.
31. The musty smell was quite a bit stronger in this room and we thought that it would be a good idea to air out the room a bit.
32. Our room smelled like mold removal chemicals or something similar.
33. The only issue we had was that the room smelled strongly of fresh plaster, almost to the point of giving us headaches.
34. Oh yeah, they tried to give me a smoking room even though I reserved a non-smoking room; not that it mattered, since the whole hotel smelled like a dirty retirement home anyway.
35. Our family who had a seperate room had to have their room changed because of an overwhelming smell of mildew in their room.
36. First thing I noticed is that even though the room was supposed to be non-smoking, it smelled like someone had been smoking there very recently, I decided to let it pass because they were accommodating and had arranged for me to check-in very early in the morning at the day of my arrival, as a result I had to laundry all my clothes, even those I did not use, as it all smelled like I had been clubbing the entire trip.
37. Upon arrival, in the hallway leading to our room, vomit was sprayed on the wall and the floor, and it smelled really foul like rotten pizza with Parmesan cheese.
38. The room smelled of smoke, and the room was really warm.
39. The building is full of character and historic, but none of this makes up for paper-thin walls, strange room electrics, the smell of cigarette smoke in the hallways around non-smoking rooms, and a parade of on-strike employees picketing outside the front door.
40. On top of this they didn`t have the room I reserved/requested & on top of all this the whole place was terrible, it was old, every thing smelled like curry, it was in terrible shape (the halls, doors, every thing).

42. The wallpaper was peeling off of the walls, the carpet was dirty and the room smelled musty.
43. There`s also a strange smell in the rooms.
44. The rooms are run down, but clean, and they don`t smell abnormal like the halls (more on that in a moment).
45. After a couple of days you knew you were getting to your room by the smell of the hall you were on.
46. Our first room on the North side was spacious, however the towels were visibly stained, there was a large bug flying around and my friend`s comforter smelled like men`s cologne.
47. The room smelled of mold and mildew, the bedding looked as if it hadn`t been washed in decades (I used a t-shirt as a pillow case cause I refused to put my head on their disgusting cases), the paint was peeling, the furniture looked like it was thrown together from rummage sales and the carpeting was stained and nasty (I kept flip flops on at all times, I wouldn`t dare let my feet touch that floor).
48. The Hotel was Sub Par, The front desk asked us if we wanted non smoking and booked us in a smoking room anyways so we had to switch once we figured out why the hallways smelled so bad.
49. I can understand what some other people wrote about the hotel being old but our room was clean and did not smell at all.
50. The hotel room was old, dirty, and it smelled.
51. The room was not only hot, but it smelled and the plumbing doesn`t work properly.
52. Check-in was a breeze, the room was spacious, but a little musty (non-smoking, but smelled like that hadn`t always been the case) The building is old and interesting, my room clean, water pressure excellent, very quiet hallway (a Thursday night).
