There are supermarkets close by as well as cafes etc so it is not
hard
to stock up on cheap food.

Two very slow elevators, old rooms that are clean, but very outdated, terribly
hard
beds and awful pillows, and unfriendly staff (which to an extent can be expected in NYC), certainly dampen your experience.
