6. We didn't eat at Shula's restaurant, but met friends in the little bar downstairs (with no windows, it has a 'downstairs' feel although it's really on the main level) and enjoyed talking to the native New Yorker bartenders about night-life.

7. Being on 8th street allows easy access to 8th street and in-between where we discovered lots of good restaurants away from the Times Square crowd and line ups.
