1. Having been to NY only once before and stayed at the Novotel (good) and another hotel which was awful (sadly can't remember name) we wanted to make sure our short anniversary trip in October 2011 was memorable and I know how much the hotel can make or break your NYC experience.

2. Also the bathroom amenities were a bit strange; the paper labels on the shampoo and conditoner bottles made an awful mess when they got wet, and the conditioner was such an unusual consistency that it was frustrating to use.

4. I did end up having to buy a single-cup drip coffee maker (Melitta) because, really, I swear, their coffee device made really, really, really awful coffee.
