1. Our rooms view was probably the worst in the entire hotel because it faced a parking lot, but it did not put a damper on our trip.

2. I expected the resort fee of $20, and parking fees are charged at many hotels in Key West, but wish I had known that free parking was readily available on nearby streets (though honestly, this time I would have paid anyway, as it was our anniversary, and I wanted a little spoiling).

3. It is true that they charge for parking, internet usage, a resort fee, etc. However, I did feel that I got my money's worth with the daily paper, the popsicles, free cocktail and water at the pool, access to a nice gym, etc. No one likes to pay more than they have to, but I didn't feel ripped off.

5. 5 mi to get to where the action is so a cab would be a better idea cause parking isn't really realistic on Duval.

This was absolute luxury, wonderful staff and service, lots of little extras i.e. free drinks or ice lollies brought round at regular intervals whilst using the pools or private beach, free use of computers in lobby, free ipod charging in rooms, the food and bars were expensive by Key West standards, but it's only a 10 minute walk into key west town itself where it is plentiful and cheap, my only complaint is having to pay for parking - but - on the other hand the hotel is surrounded by roads with plentiful free parking so not a great problem just rather unusual for a top hotel.
