The property sits on the cusp of the really bad part of San Francisco (The Tenderloin), and feels
unsafe
as soon as dusk hits.

I didn't feel greatly
unsafe
walking around the area, but it was clearly a place to watch your back pocket and stay alert.

Union Square is about a 10 mins walk from the hotel and though it was located close to the Tenderloin district, i've never felt
unsafe
walking to the hotel at night just don't walk south or west of the hotel and you will be fine.

While the hotel is on the edge of the Tenderloin district, we never felt like we were in an
unsafe
area, although there are many street people everywhere.
