I find the minibar situation emblematic here: used to be that hotels had small fridges to help customers keep that falafel sandwich in case of munchies at midnight, or that unfinished bottle of white wine for the next day; then they started stocking it with stuff, which is fair enough, but now it's no more than a dispenser for overpriced items.
