1. The location is great, adjacent to an amazing mall, but the staff is not deserving of a 5 star hotel, from checkin (slow and not very friendly) to the valets (pretty much demanded a tip before handing me my keys.

2. We were a bit disappointed by the Royal Hawaiian - the service was slow, food not great, the concierge closes at 8 pm so you can't plan anything for the following day after that time, the room had annoying little faults and the staff didn't seem motivated.

6. I think they intend for the check-in process to be more personal (you sit down with the front desk person who slowly goes through the check in with you) however it is unbelievably slow.

The check-in gentleman saw me with our exhausted little daughter waiting for him to help us, but yet went somewhere 'in the back', returned several minutes later, was very slow to check us in, didn't explain even where elevator was - we had to find it ourselves with hands full of baggage, stroller and a little child.
