1. We stayed there last week - a fairly good rate given the reputation of the hotel, but still pricey.

3. The TV problem recurred 3 times and finally when i threatened to leave they kindly upgraded us to a suite ( moving all our things expertly while we were out) and reducing the rate on our final night by 50%.

4. Whatever you do, don't prepay for a fixed number of nights at The Plaza for a reduced rate as this negates your ability to leave or threaten to leave if you indeed are not happy.

6. We unfortunately stayed when Hurricane/ Tropical storm Irene hit but they gladly extended our stay, due to the cancelled flight, and reduced our room rate down to the standard rate without making us change room.

7. OK, it's a large less than personal hotel, and on the higher-end as far as rates, but the service, rooms, food, location etc. etc, are well worth the money, it that's what you want.
