it had a metal plaque saying it was non-operational.

We can't speak highly enough of the staff; the concierge booked an amazing table at a great steakhouse, in fact everyone was so friendly and helpful (at least 5 of the staff stood out) and we were a bit
sad
to leave.

But
sadly
thats not what they did and in the end I myself just went to the store, said nothing and was lucky that the store unlike the lenox handled the problem professionally.
