1. I had booked a road trip across Arizona, Nevada and California and this hotel was recommended to me by a friend from work as the perfect way to regain some comfort into my life after a week of roughing it.
"Excellent hotel, would recommend without hesitation " Read full review on TripAdvisor   1/10/2012 Vote
2. The room was updated with newer decor, furnishings and electronics, but since it is an older hotel, it was only slightly rough around the edges (wall, window, older bathroom).
"Wonderful hotel, great location! " Read full review on TripAdvisor   11/9/2011 Vote
3. Union Sq is a good central base from which to explore - the cable car runs right outside, several Muni buses run from round the corner and the signtseeing buses all have stops on Union Square- but i believe a few sidestreets off Union Sq can be a bit rough at night.
"Established hotel in a great location " Read full review on TripAdvisor   5/17/2011 Vote
4. Be sure, if you are used to chain or luxury hotels, the Chancellor might initally make you think you are going to be roughing it but rest assured, you'll enjoy your time there.
"The Chancellor was friendly, convenient, and perfect for a visit to SF spent on the go. " Read full review on TripAdvisor   3/21/2011 Vote

8. DON`T walk up Turk st like we did looking for a bus stop - rough area, very scary.
