I had booked a road trip across Arizona, Nevada and California and this hotel was recommended to me by a friend from work as the perfect way to regain some comfort into my life after a week of
rough
ing it.

The room was updated with newer decor, furnishings and electronics, but since it is an older hotel, it was only slightly
rough
around the edges (wall, window, older bathroom).

Union Sq is a good central base from which to explore - the cable car runs right outside, several Muni buses run from round the corner and the signtseeing buses all have stops on Union Square- but i believe a few sidestreets off Union Sq can be a bit
rough
at night.

Be sure, if you are used to chain or luxury hotels, the Chancellor might initally make you think you are going to be
rough
ing it but rest assured, you'll enjoy your time there.

We prefer the Union Square area, but always face a conundrum: The smaller, renovated hotels are convenient, but often a bit
rough
around the edges.
