4. Only a couple of items stops us from giving an excellent rating: Depending on the wind, the traffic noise could be significant due to nearby highway (not enough to keep us awake though) and the niggling issue that there is supposed to be a free Mai Tai night that was promised when we checked in but which was cancelled without warning (it fell on Thanksgiving day).

5. We started with a regular hotel room, which was in pretty shabby condition: one of the worst mattresses I've ever slept on, corroded window frames, extremely noise AC, carpet that came out of a 70's sitcom, lots of noise from equipment outside the room (oddly, the bathroom had clearly been remodeled sometime this century and was in very good condition).

10. Our room overlooked the parking lot and the noisy main highway through Kaanapali, so instead of being able to enjoy the hawaiian breezes we had to keep the windows shut and the A/C on because of the noise.
