Rumor has it that with the re-Opening of Mauna Kea Beach Hotel in December of 2008 (it was closed in 2004 due to earth quake
damage
) and their grand opening in March 2009, The Hapuna Beach Prince hotel will be closed for much needed room rennovations.

I had a $30 lunch at the Beachside restuarant and I must say that the Mauna Kea is being gutted and renovated after the earthquake - it appears to have been gravely
damage

My wife and I have stayed at the Mauna Kea each fall for the past six years, but with the MK closed due to earthquake
damage
we decided to try the other Prince property, at which we had dinner a few times but otherwise had not explored.
