1. We did not look closely under the bed or mattress but the room and bath look clean enough.

2. Hotel was great lovely big room, 2 queen beds, 32' plasma, bathroom big enough with bath, spotlessly clean maids in everyday, quiet room not ajoining overlooking chrysler building, although buildings are really close together.
