1. We drove up from Florida, and as a free alternative to paying through the nose for parking, we left the car in a free space for a few days in a nicer part of my native Washington Heights, given that we didn't need a car every day.

2. Taking a train back downtown and then uptown again a few days later to retrieve the car was no big deal (way better than paying $32/day for parking around the Helmsley).

4. If you like rude front of house staff who have no idea how to answer anything from a parking question to a 'good place to eat' question (which I'M CERTAIN they should know) and getting a 'deluxe city view' which actually look onto a parking lot, then this is the place for you.
