1. The room service and housekeeping staff were very good indeed but the front desk is not good enough quite a lot of the time.

Only issue with this hotel was that a shower cap I brought with me was mistakenly thrown away by the housekeeping staff and they didn't leave any of the ones provided by the hotel (it's a shower cap so I'm not going to go mad about it), I called housekeeping and just asked if I could have one of the standard hotel ones and they were a bit shirty on the phone but they sent someone up with a handful (literally - I've no idea why as I was only asking for one and not complaining my own one had been thrown out or removed from my room) of shower caps shortly afterwards.

3. Other than this the stay was fine and the housekeeping was efficient with the towels being changed again each evening whilst the bed was prepared, so there was always plenty of clean, dry towels to use.

As with most NYC hotels and restaurants, service staff expect to be tipped fairly generously (we generally give $2/bag to the bellman, $3 to the doorman, $5/night to the housekeeping staff, and round up the room service meal charge to the nearest $5) - but we've always found the staff to be helpful and attentive, and many of them even remember us by name.

10. The staff were highly courteous, the suite we stayed in on the 44th floor was specious with spectacular views, and the housekeeping was also upto par, with high standards of cleanliness being met at all times in our suite.
