1. The bed was great, and the 6 pillow option, at no extra charge, a boon to those, who like me, often carry our own pillow to avoid the overly hard, or bulky pillows provided by hotels.

3. Don't use the valet service - there are three parking garages less than 200 yards away, if you park the car yourself, you avoid the $50 fee.

4. I'd recommend that you avoid this hotel and book instead at the Affinia Dumont which is more in the heart of things, has great views of the bridges lit up at night, and while the lobby is also tiny, the whole place feels livelier and better located.

5. We were coming from downtown (embassy suites) which we very much like but wanted to be closer to uptown sites and avoid useless trips on subways.

6. And, although the peppermint tea in the lobby was lovely, we didn't feel welcome enough to sit there and enjoy it after the very lukewarm welcome we received at checkin so we took it up to our room to enjoy and to avoid any possible comments from the staff (like perhaps they would complain that they were offering us a free cup of tea.

7. If all four of us could have fitted in the double bedsofa, we would all have slept there to avoid waking with stiff necks and backs.

8. Then look the other way when going through the lobby so as to avoid the black eyes and bandages.
