1. But, the elevators, the always late room service, the broken lamp and dead remote, the disinterested management level individual, the (often) unhelpful bell/door men, and the various other little things (all too numerous to mention - again, it all adds up after awhile) bespeak a hotel that may look grand, but definitely is not.

2. Other things happened, too, that, though little, were problems that should not be had in a first-class establishment: one lamp knob was broken, forcing me to have to use one of my make-up appliances to turn it so I could turn it on, the batteries in my TV remote were nearly dead (I got up to change the channel or turn on/off the TV each time), and the iron was cheap and small and dribbled water constantly (ruined a shirt).

3. First, when we arrived, one elevator door was broken, leaving only one elevator to serve one side of this immense hotel.

9. They We were moved to a room on the other side of the hotel, on the 1st floor, which was good, because the elevators on that side were broken, too.
