1. I know this is expected at downtown hotels that do provide you with the convenice of being within walking distance of almost any downtown destination (thus saving you the hassle of finding and paying for a parking place), but $28 a night is pretty steep, especially considering that my freeway motel, with a spacious room, free breakfast, and free internet, has a $0 parking charge.

I cannot begin to cover how wonderful the experience was on so many levels - from Liz Young who took care of the room arrangements - to Elicia Maroda who as concierge was wonderfully helpful not just to me , but to many of our guests who traveled far distances to come to Austin - many for the first time.

7. The rooms vary -- my husband and I had a decent sized room with a large bathroom with vanity; other family members had less appointed rooms with no vanity and cramped quarters.

9. We researched all the downtown hotels and the SFA had the best policy on room blocks and event rates that were about the same, if not less than some of mediocre properties around downtown such as the Courtyard, Hampton Inn, and Residence Inn.
