1. I travel to NYC several times a year for business and the Helmsley Park Lane is my hotel of choice even though we have a generous per diem and I could stay at just about any hotel in mid-town (I have also stayed at The London and Michelangelo).
"Fabulous location and park view makes up for what is lacking... " Read full review on TripAdvisor   5/18/2012 Vote
2. Pros:* Amazing views - I had great views of Central Park from my room* Subway access - you can enter the N or R line straight outside the door* Location in general - a great place to stay with plenty to do & see nearby* Historic charm - it had an old school charm to it which I enjoyed* Good service - easy check-in and check-out, and they mistakenly billed me for minibar items I didn't use, and they quickly removed it off my bill no questions asked* Room size - in this area, rooms are typically very small given the high cost of real-estate.

3. I'm not a demanding person and generally try and find the positives but sorry, on this occasion I'm struggling to find anything good to say.

4. The staff were generally aloof and disinterested in us and most people coming and going.

6. The paid hotel Internet is really abysmal even by the category's generally poor standards - the last few visits, we've given up and used a mobile Internet hotspot from our cell phone provider.
"Overpriced Luxury Hotel Not Suitable for Business - Some rooms have great view of Central Park, Though " Read full review on TripAdvisor   11/22/2011 Vote
7. As with most NYC hotels and restaurants, service staff expect to be tipped fairly generously (we generally give $2/bag to the bellman, $3 to the doorman, $5/night to the housekeeping staff, and round up the room service meal charge to the nearest $5) - but we've always found the staff to be helpful and attentive, and many of them even remember us by name.

8. If you get the right rooms, it has a lovely view of Central Park right out of the movies - and while the current room service menu is EXTREMELY limited (a single laminated tabloid-sized front&back sheet), the food when you get it is generally warm and quite tasty.

9. Hotel in general, ticks all boxes, however, could benefit from in-room coffee facilities.
"Poor 1st impression due to a member of reception staff " Read full review on TripAdvisor   11/13/2011 Vote
10. If there is one word to describe this hotel, it would be 'cosmopolitan' in the general sense of it.
