1. On the positive side there is the free parking(in contrast to the Kona side) friendly staff and favorable location to some of the finest activities on the island.

3. After extensive rearch, I found that the only gig in town was the Hilo Hawaiian; all of the other hotels I researched had consistently poor reviews whereby the reviews of the Hilo Hawaiian were mostly positive.

7. positive factors:1) Next to Water and near many stores in Hilo2) Small but nice pool3) Courteous staff who let us check in 4 hours early since we wanted to drop our stuff off at the hotel at 11AM before driving to the Volcano park.
