But oh dear, there were also some negatives: 1) our room which cost $ 950 a ninght had a comfortable bed but the room lacked many of the normal amenities one would expect in a five star hotel, 2) other than a letter no effort was made by management to welcome us in the way of a bowl of fruit or bottle of wine, 3) the maid service was slow and most nights we didn't get a turn down, and 4) the food in the Terrace restaurant was poor and the service at dinner excruciatingly slow.
