1. The room was nice and clean (mini bar prices were a bit outrageous) and they did a great job in suppressing the smell of cigarette smoke in the casino.
2. Turns out that under renovation means that our rooms smelled like, well, sewage.
3. Did I forget to mention that the second day of our stay we came back to a marijuana-smelling room.
4. After 2 calls to the front desk they finally sent an 'officer' to smell our room and tell us they were completely booked and that marijuana was not harmful unless directly inhaled.
5. But when I checked in, the lady said that no non-smoking room anymore, so I have to stay in the smoking area room for 2 nights -- what a terrible two nights, the smell of the room is choking.
6. My room was so newly renovated that I could smell the fresh paint.
7. The rooms were spacious with comfortable beds but there was a stale smell of smoke from the furniture.
8. Rooms were great, newly renovated, smell and looked great, except for the trash found in the closet on the shelf.
9. Pros: convenient to other hotels/casinos if you want to walk around, casino floor has a lot of options and is a usual choice for me to go to when in Vegas (video roulette!), nice choice of restaurants and casual eateries, helpful staffCons: room was sparse and outdated, no mini bars or fridge (that's a requirement for me nowadays), noise from hallways and adjacent rooms are very audible, room has a funny smell initially (but you get used to it)Main reason for staying at the MGM Grand was that visiting family did not want to spend much money on a room for several days but did not want a dive hotel to stay in.
10. The downside was i don't like the room ambiance, it's clean and big but if you're nose is sensitive to smell, i don't think you would like to stay in the room.
11. Upon entering the room, we were assaulted with the smell of cigarette smoke and mustiness which may be something I'd expect from a motel, not THE MGM GRAND.
12. Really need to get the smoking out of the Casinos here, (and I am a smoker) but we asked for two non smoking rooms however you could smell the cigarette through out the rooms.
13. The hotel and rooms were spacious and clean, although there is the general smell of smoke throughout the casino.
14. Also, the room was handicap accessible, which would not have been so bad if the room didn't smell so bad - it had a strong food odor.
15. The first room we got smelled incredibly smokey even though it was a non-smoking floor.
16. As a matter of fact, we had to be asked to be moved from the first room that was given to us due to a very bad (musky) smell.
17. this hotel really needs to be updated new rooms new everything, you can smell old but not a nice old a tacky one.
18. first room we got was vomit smelling and horrible.
19. Both rooms had weird smells, the outside windows were dirty and our view was looking at rooftop fans.
20. Fortunatelly we had a non smoking room on a non smoking floor that was renovated in 2004, so there was no smell of smoke when sleeping.
21. I have to stress that these smells were not in our room at all.
22. I finally called the front desk at midnight as there was a very strong odor coming through the door attached to the next room, smelling of rotting flesh, dead bodies, etc..
23. Additionally, our 2nd day our room progressively smelled worse and worse to the point where we could not bear to be in there.
24. Apparently, someone next door had never shut off the bathtub, the entire room had flooded, and the carpeting was now molding and rotting, with the smell coming through the walls and door-jam.
25. Our friends literally thought we had a problem with food poisoning and had spent our day in the bathroom, our room smelled that bad.
26. Other issues with the room ('celebrity' spa suite) were that the TV had horrible static (an old tube TV, no flat screens here), the internet line was disconnected, mold above the shower, dead light bulbs and a horrible stale smoke smell that we could not get rid of, even though it was a non-smoking room.
27. Overall, the room we had looked old and smelled old.
28. The room also smelled of stale cigarettes.
29. The smell was unpleasant, the room was grubby and it felt like a gaol cell.

31. The new room smelled smoky, but less than the first, and it was late, so we stayed put, that was room 4410, also a Bungalow King Suite.
32. If you like big crowds, acrid thick second hand smoke, indifferent hotel rules that demean you and default you into being treated like cattle, no hot water in the shower, stinky cigarette smelling rooms, no freebees unless you beg, a fire alarm that went off at 12:30 because some nut smoked in the hallway, an old box TV from the 90's, kid unfriendly, this is for you.
33. Our room smelled of smoke and when I called to complain the receptionist said that all rooms tend to smell like that because people do what they are not supposed to in Vegas.
34. We had stayed a week prior at a Vegas hotel at $50.00 per night and we had just as large a room, clean room, despite the strong smell in the casino the room and hotel halls were completely free of smoke smells.

40. ) Absolutely NO friendly, helpful customer service; NO mini-bar, (which I wanted for the refrigerator), NO coffee pot (Even 'cheap motels' have coffee pots!), the room was 'old' (smelled old and the carpet was not very clean) and the shower contained 'USED' soap.

42. The room did not smell like smoke and was well ventilated and even the casino was one of the better ones at keeping the smokiness under control.
43. Our room on the 16th floor was spotless and smelled so clean getting away from the smoking gamblers.
44. Why pay more for a Bungalow Suite?on arrival to our room on the lowest level of the hotel it has a view of a room and all the rooms above us and smells of smoke.

Staff were always cheerful and said hello down the hallsCons - Our toilet blocked so we had to get someone to unblock it (so did someone else who we were travelling with that was down the hall), when we first arrived it had a bad smell (but MGM were happy to come in and spray) & carpark was a loooooooong walk to our room.
53. We stayed in a non-smoking floor (25th floor) and although there was a bit of smoke smell in the corridors, the room was superb.
54. We overlooked a roof that must have had a restaurant vent on it because the room had a smell of grilled meat everyday at lunch and dinner time.
55. Once checked in we headed for the rooms, to which you have to go through the outskirts of the Casino to get too (which you have too go through, in order to get to nearly everywhere in the hotel!)Rooms: On arriving in the room, the first thing that hit me was the smoke smell.

74. Our first room smelled STRONGLY of sewer.
75. The room appeared to be clean, but after closer inspection, the carpet is dirty, and the hotel sports a perfume-like smell.
76. (then no non smoking rooms (as booked) ready but I was too tired to argue)-Trays in the corridor from room service taking 36 hours to pick up, making the place look shoddy & strong cannabis smells most night in the corridor-Hearing every noise in the adjoining room through the door; keeping me awake 2 nights (I don't even think they were being that noisy) (to be fair security did come up on one occasion but I can't believe the sound proofing is so bad!)- And what is that shake & vac smell in the casino.

83. We stayed in a Tower room-no complaints about the room nice big picture window, spacious-smelled a bit of smoke but i just went and bought some air freshener(couldn't stand the thought of dealing with those reception people yet again) Noisy every night with people coming back all hours-could cope with that-really couldn't cope with the pool areas-thought we had gone to Ibiza, DJ playing at one pool to all those 18year olds, no consideration for other people at the other pools.

88. This is what I could come up with:Pros:-LOCATION-Attractions inside the hotel (shows, WET REPUBLIC)-Both casual and formal dining in the hotel (there was a food court and many restaurants and lounges)-STARBUCKS inside-Every staff member we came across was nice and helpfulCons:-Didn't like the smell in the hallways-Bathrooms need upgrading-No mini fridge-Alarm clock was automatically set in the room to wake us up really early one of the nights!-You can clearly hear people in the hallway-Pools close earlyOVERALL--I probably wouldn't mind staying here again but I wouldn't rule out other hotels either.
