1. There is little to no ventilation in the rooms, even by turning the ac to as low as it would go, it was too hot and dingy smelling.
2. Upon checking into my room, I was taken aback by the strong smell of cigarette smoke.
3. My first room smelled like smoke (even though it was non-smoking) so they put in an ionizer, and when that didn't help, they upgraded me to the executive floor for free.
4. The room had the smell and feel of a smoking room.
5. We were upgraded to a room with two bathrooms, which turned out to be a good thing since one bathroom featured a toilet which sprayed water from the flush handle and the other featured significant mold on the shower tile grout (not that the other shower was without mold, the one just had more!) The room had a weird chemical smell, which I initially attributed to cleaning products, but the room was certainly not overly clean.
6. So we decided to check the room to see if the smell was bearable.
7. We had to go through FOUR rooms to find one which wouldn't smell of stale tobacco (on the one hand, this is not the hotel's fault - some people have a nasty habit of ignoring the 'no smoking' designations in rooms - but on the other hand, why should I care, I hate sleeping in a stale-smell room).
8. The pillows smelled like cigarette smoke and body odor and even though the room was 'cleaned' while I was gone during the day, the floor was never vacumed.
9. Our room was caked in dust, a bit musty smelling, and was VERY dark.
10. Size of room was small, but that didn't bother me so much as the cigarette smoke and mildew smells, as well as the films of dust on the headboard of the bed.
11. Our room was on the 11th floor (non-smoking, 2 double beds) and after I laid in the bed, I could smell smoke.
12. We had non-smokers and yes there was a strong smell on entering the room, but we think it was a cleaning agent and it was non-existent when we were in the room.
13. Many said couldn't get non-smoker rooms or bad smells.
14. We got a full size bed in a smoking room that actually smelled like cigarettes.
15. When we get to the room, the smell of the room was pretty bad.
16. Rooms smell like crisp, fresh linen.
17. When we tried to turn the A/C on in this room a strong smell of ozone and burning hair quickly enveloped us and we had to turn it off and open a window.
18. I did have trouble with the first two rooms smelling very strongly of smoke.
19. We could smell it in the hallway but after a few days the smell crept into our room.
20. The room smelled awful.
21. My room smells like a Crabtree and Evelyn store.
22. This was particularly nice when the strong smell of smoke drifted into my room through the vents.
23. We found out from a staff member after complaining about a smell like paint that our room had new carpet, new wallpaper, new varnish on the baseboards and new furnishings.
24. The non-smoking room smelled of stale smoke, and the overall property was weathered.
25. Both had the smell of smoke in them, and the less stinky of the two had no bed (it was on the executive floor and was the living-room of a larger suite).
26. We get to our room and it smells like fee, a&& and cigarettes.
27. A colleague was on the 7th floor in a smoking room (FYI: the floor hallways are 'non-smoking', but I nearly choked on the cigarette smell embedded into the walls.
