1. As many others have noted, the younger staff often aren't very customer oriented, spending more energy joking with each other or flirting than taking care of guests.
"Mediocre hotel in a great location, often for a reasonable price " Read full review on TripAdvisor   4/7/2012 Vote
2. Lastly, please clean the graffiti out of the elevators, it is shows a complete lack of care for customer perception, and also do not expect the guest to use the service elevator that looks like it was last serviced and cleaned in 1929.

3. He never responded which made me laugh a little since the responses here make it sound like he really cares.

5. Oh, and the flush handle of the toilet sticks right out in the walkway - you're sure to flush it on the way to the shower if you're not careful.

6. ' The thing is, if they would've said 'we're totally swamped because of the groupon' or 'we've been granting late check-outs for days because of poor service' and then told us directly that we wouldn't be able to check in until four or even later, my wife and I would not have cared.
"Understaffed...terrible communication " Read full review on TripAdvisor   12/31/2011 Vote
7. Considering most people wouldn't be in their room enough to care about that option, I don't really see it as a problem.
"Great place to stay " Read full review on TripAdvisor   11/11/2011 Vote
8. You will never see a dime for the damage and the hotel does not care.

9. We did feel it would have been better if we had some drawers to put our clothes away but we kept our suticases (small) on top of the 2 radiators in the room and made due- Our other clothes went into the closet- We requested a guiet room and got one- We didn't care about the view- more important for us not to be woken up by street noise since the hotel is in a great location next to Michigan Avenue- The main street- The one thing we did notice was that it seems the carpet in the hallways needs some TLC but that might be the next project on the list-We liked that the Allerton was not a big overwhelming hotel- as I said- it had more of a european flavor- so we enjoyed that- The Lobby where you register is near the dining room the decor was modern but somehow also has an 'old world feel'- The staff was terrific- Very helpful-We ate breakfast out every day but our last day we had a wonderful full buffet breakfast for about $14 each at the hotel- That also included unlimited juice, coffee, tea -which made it quite a deal-We also want to note that the concierge who helped us that week- Mr.
"Very good experience " Read full review on TripAdvisor   8/19/2011 Vote
10. The vallets were excellent even though we didn't park our car at the hotel - there was cheaper across the street (just no in and out priviledges - we didn't care).
"Great location and helpful staff " Read full review on TripAdvisor   7/31/2011 Vote
