1. So, why only 3 stars? Because what is the point of a non-smoking room when the ventilation system directs smoke in anyway? If you are a smoker, then I'd say five stars.

2. I told them that this felt like a scam to get $200 out of those guests who are smokers which they denied it was.

3. My next thought was that this was a scam against those the hotel were aware of as being smokers, there were a couple of open packets of cigarettes in our room as we would take a full packet out with us at the start of a long day, leaving the odd remains of the previous day's packet in the room.

4. Now we are both smokers but having been used to non smoking hotels in the UK for the past four years since the smoking ban we were fully aware that lighting up in the hotel room would not be allowed and so at no point at all during our stay did we smoke inside the hotel.

5. The Hilton chain is generally tolerant of smokers, which is something to be grateful for in this city, where the anti-smoking lobby is near-hysterical.

6. The rooms are fine, the staff is great, but if you are a smoker, you might want to call several times to confirm that a smoking room is available.

10. On our return to our room on the Saturday we could smell a strong cigarette smell in our room- which had a connecting door to teh room next door- we could smell teh smoke seeping through- and as non smokers it wasn`t pleasant particularly as the hotel has very small windows that dont clear the air and air conditioning doesnt really help with smoke.
