3. 2nd impressions - Checkin time is 3pm, most hotels I've been to, checking in a bit early is not usually a problem, but this one we had to wait till about 4pm, and the Ocean View room which we were meant to be upgraded to for our honeymoon was still not ready, so instead we received a pool view.

4. My problem with this place is that it is built in a tourist oasis in the middle of a barren lava field.

5. Rooms: not terrible, linens were nice but room had seen better days and hot water was spotty (hint taking showers early & late at night is your best bet for a hot shower- when I informed desk of this problem they sent up an 'engineer' who condescendingly showed me how to turn the knob to hot).

6. My only complaint is that there's no room service in the middle of the day for lunch, this became a problem when my whole family got sick with sore throats.
