1. Taxis on average cost around $20 each way, but avoided the issue of parking which apparently can be tricky.

3. We were trying to avoid the crowds at Waikiki, looking for a more secluded beach, a quiet but comfortable hotel with a choice of restaurants (so to avoid having to go to Waikiki), but close enough to the city centre to be able to go shopping a day or two.

7. In order to avoid every misunderstanding and make it clear, please note that I don't count pennies, I live in the most expensive area in Switzerland since my 20 years old so I am very used to high level of prices, I travel often in 5* hotels and .

8. It's VERY pricey but if you can afford it and you want to avoid the craziness of WAikki, go for it.

9. We checked out and left the night before our scheduled departure, one just to escape the place, and two, to avoid having to take 2 cabs and walk a few blocks with luggage to get from the hotel to the airport on the morning of the Honolulu marathon.
