5. Yes, maybe it is sad if you knew what the hotel looked like years ago, but there are hundreds of souvenir shops everywhere you look, so not having them there for you, just meant a little walk to find that perfect gift.

7. 3 restaurants out of 4 are closed at the Ilikai, it's kind of sad because it used the be the biggest thing in the 60's.

8. At one time, this was Waikiki's very first high-rise, but sadly, there are many new hotels around that physically outshine the Ilikai with their modernity.

10. We also occasionally took visitors to the 'Top of the I', but it wasn't easy to get to on this trip because of the sad state of the lifts.
