3. So we came back at 4:15 and had to wait until 5:00pm, so we wondered over to the Make shift bar they had open (because the real bar isn't finished yet) and ordered a drink, which was complimentary after we complained about having to wait so long for our room.

4. The hotel is a quick 2-3 block walk from the Market Place where we fell in love with the Mariachi Bar at Mi Tierra (recommended by the HI staff).

7. Cons: No free breakfast (there is a restaurant: $10.99 breakfast buffet), bar closes at 10:00pm, not walking distance from Riverwalk.

8. Saturday early evening we came back to the hotel sat outside at the hotel pool, smoked cigars and enjoyed watching children dive bomb the deep end, and then had a drink at the hotel bar.

My husband and I arrived late Friday night from Houston, checked in to a king-size room and walked two blocks to Market Square to listen to Mariachi music and drink Margaritas at the Mi Tierra bar (note: large police department is one block from hotel and police were out and about patrolling the area as we strolled back to the hotel around 1 a.m. so we didn't feel weird walking in downtown that late).

10. And while the hotel has a restaurant and a bar, San Antonio has more bars and restaurants than you can shake a stick at, so do yourself a favor and eat out.
