I always say that NY is a 'walking city' you can see so much on foot (comfy shoes a must as my sister-in-law discovered to her cost) and this location is so central that straight away you can start exploring without the need for cabs etc.Yes I would agree the hotel is not perfect, the lobby and decor very attractive, we found all the staff very helpful and friendly, but the rooms are not the best i have ever stayed in, having said that we were not in it very much so i don't know why people get so worked up about rooms.
