1. The room was perfect for 4 of us and the kitchenette came in handy for pre-dinner drinks with our other friends who were staying at the Beacon (12 in all).

4. This was a first trip for my family so we spent most of the days sight seeing so at night we were just happy to wander the neighbourhood to find a restaurant for dinner and we were not disappointed.

5. Also chilli and peppers pizza joint in street behind hotel which is really cheap and sells pie by the slice with a nice salad, dinner for 3 of us was @ $25.

6. Go out the hotel turn right heard uptown cross Broadway for 2 blocks and there is Nicks Hamburger joint which has huge menu and great burgers, pasta, fries shakes etc and all reasonable, open 24/7 dinner for 3 of us @ $40.

7. A visit to Utopia restaurant (diner) for breakfast or dinner on 267 Amsterdam Ave New York is local to the hotel and is nicer than the one next door to the hotel also pop in the Fairway Market worth a walk round or a visit to the restaurant upstairs which is facing the Beacon.

As for area food, dinner before our show at Cafe Viand was quick & easy, had some good laughs & great breakfasts at Utopia (Amsterdam & 73rd), popped in to the Dive Bar on 75th for some locally brewed beer, & found some awesome pizza by the slice at some subterranian pizzeria around the corner from hotel (where we caught a glimpse of Gregg Allman leaving the Theatre after the second night's show).
