3. Went to Knitty City(across the street), Insomnia Cookies (across the street) Max GA (Broadway and 79) a store full of quirky toys that my 9 year old daughter loved, Celeste (small Italian restaurant on Amsterdam and 85th).

4. Conveniently located on 79th and Amsterdam on the upper west side, its just a short walk to Central Park and plenty of shopping and restaurants abound.

Close to the subway (1, goes Downtown and Uptown - if you want to go East there are buses, or of course you can walk); close to Central Park and to the Hudson River (great for morning and evening walks/jogs, if you are into that sort of thing); close to wonderful food shops like Zabar and Barney Greengrass (which is a good thing because the restaurant attached to the hotel serves food that reads and sadly tastes like airplane dinners - chicken fillets in a port sauce with cranberries and baby potatoes and dwarf carrots and and and) .
