1. We were on the 9th floor at the back and did not notice street noise.

2. We would all definately return to this hotel and although the proximity the street was not a problem for me, two other members of our party would request a suite on a higher floor in future, but this did not stop our enjoyment of the hotel, or New York.

The pros : place (49th street east) unbeatable, space (very wide for New York), staff (friendly, willing to help, great), breakfast include, kitchen (a real one, not a kitchenette) allowing you to cook anytime, close to any shops (for food)The cons : noisy at night due to the A/C on the roof of a nearby building and a poor isolation of the windows.
