The location is fabulous right in the centre of manhattan so its perfect for exploring uptown as well as
downtown
its also pretty close to 5th avenue which is handy for last minute shopping.

The hop on and hop off buses are great but bear in mind each circular route takes about 2-3 hours, with the
downtown
route being the most useful.

Personally, next time I go, I will stay somewhere further
downtown
, in a quieter area, with less theme restaurants, but if someone asked me to recommend a mid level hotel, near Times Square then this would be my recommendation.
