1. A $30 valet for 24 hours is a bit expensive, and they charge for anything they can if they have a chance.

After returning from holiday we realised that the Metropole had placed an unauthorised charge on our credit card, when queried with them they were adamant that this was not a charge and that it was our credit card provider that had not returned a hold that the Metropole had put on our account for incidentals.

5. After 4 weeks of us being told this was not a charge but a hold the Metropole suddenly changed their version of events to us having removed a rug from the room.

6. bed broke on the frist night but the front desk changed our room with a better view and no charge for the mini bar for the rest of the stay.

7. Although there are nice amenities in the room such as several plasma TV's and an ipod dock, this does not, in my personal opinion, entitle the hotel to charge such hefty prices but slack off on service and cleanliness.

8. The rotund blonde woman on reception barely spoke a word of english, and those that she did know, she used to abuse me verbally when I asked her for simple services such as reactivation of my room key (which continually lost its magnetic charge leaving me locked out of my room).

9. I do think that they charge a little too much for the valet parking especially being that the bell man leaves at 11p and does not return until 11a.

10. All in all, I can say this about the Metropole -- the location is great, although the $30 valet parking charge is too high, and we rejected it.
