1. But since it hasn't been renovated in the last 15 years, it now just feels tired and dated.
"Great location, very dated rooms " Read full review on TripAdvisor   5/22/2012 Vote
2. Lobby is incredibly dark, rooms are big but are in dire need of renovation, the hallways are of hospital decor (bright and depressing), the A/C hardly works and I heard a couple argue for an hour last night, the walls are paper thin.
"If you enjoyed the 80s you'll like this place! It was the last decade the rooms were renovated. " Read full review on TripAdvisor   5/21/2012 Vote
3. The worst parts are too few elevators, not all rooms are renovated, and finishes/furnishings that are not of the highest quality.
"Incredible size! " Read full review on TripAdvisor   2/27/2012 Vote
4. Ground zero memorial you havge to pay an entrance fee now which i feel is quite sick to have to pay to pay your respects there is a wall outside this with all the firefighters names on that you do not have to pay for, we then got the statten island ferry which is free so we could see the statue of liberty as they are currently renovating so you cannot go inside so got the ferry to go past you do have to depart the ferry then wait for the next one to go back buts is free so gives you an opportunity to fuel up with a mug of hot chocolate then when you come back if you walk round to the right and up you can see the brooklyn bridge.
"Grubby have stayed in better travel lodges!!!!!!!! " Read full review on TripAdvisor   12/3/2011 Vote
5. Did they stay at the same hotel or is there some kind of parallel universe with some other Flatotel that people really like? The Flatotel we experienced was much in keeping with a number of the preceeding reviews: dimly lit, poorly maintained and much in need of renovation.
"Location, good sized room, but not much else. " Read full review on TripAdvisor   11/30/2011 Vote
6. It is getting a little old, and needs renovation to keep up with the competition.
"Good Stand By " Read full review on TripAdvisor   7/1/2011 Vote
7. I asked for a newly renovated room and the person at the front desk told me it was.
"jr. executive suite dirty and in disrepair " Read full review on TripAdvisor   1/5/2011 Vote
8. I assume they did not do any renovations in the last 30 years.
"Terrible! Do not be fooled by their website! " Read full review on TripAdvisor   5/27/2010 Vote
9. The housekeeping service is awfull, all building needs a renovation right away.
"Never again " Read full review on TripAdvisor   2/28/2010 Vote
10. And the part that wasn't renovated was far, far below par given the 'luxury' standing advertised in all of the hotel's marketing.
"Very disappointed - I will *not* stay at the Flatotel again " Read full review on TripAdvisor   12/29/2009 Vote
