4. The crowd at the Clift creeped me out a little: mid 40-something men lurking in the dimly lit bar trying to hit on much younger types is the hotel ground floor 'scene' after 10pm - god knows why, because SF boast so many awesome little dive bars.

8. Outside of all of the above, the location of the hotel is awesome - we walked to all corners of the city from this spot, right close to Union Square and access to all forms of transit, shopping, etc.
