6. The Algonquin only had rooms avail starting at $450 so did a priceline bid expanding our search to other areas of NYC so our first night in the city was in the Empire State Building area at the Affinia Dumont hotel which was fabulous (their lobby was small) BUT huge newly renovated beautiful room, separate kitchen, loved the location again through priceline last minute at $299 + taxes and worth every penny.
