unfortunate
ly the front-desk person did not combine the two reservations (even though he pointed out that we had two reservations) and so we were locked out midday after night #1.

I was unable to book a room for this year's event because of the steep cost of the rooms
unfortunate
ly so I am staying down the street at a much more reasonable nightly rate though my preference would be the JW Marriott.

However the 4 of us are in a small room, (# 1401, nice side angle view of Wash monument), with one King bed and a rollaway (I
unfortunate
ly overlooked the part on the reservation that said 'two beds requested/not guaranteed').

Yes, the 'touch-it-and-you-buy-it' concessions are annoying, as are the other little extra charges, but
unfortunate
ly that's par for the course with most hotel chains in most major cities.
