One night we heard this
awful
screaming by a woman and watched in horror as a homeless man was trying to mug her, but she was able to run off before we called the police.

The Renoir Hotel is in a truly
awful
location -- right smack in the middle of the worst part of the Tenderloin, which is Crackhead/Homeless/Mentally Disturbed Central.

It was a very unpleasant experience starting with the hotel lobby, a pompous collection of cheap imitation antiques, the gloomy staff, a dark and smelly room with the non-working safe box, broken TV remote, lack of hot water,
awful
breakfast etc.
