1. Yes the decor is funky, but I must have had the worst room in the hotel, it was tiny, the bathroom wasnt clean, the paint on the ceiling was peeling, it was very noisy being next to the lift well and looked out onto theroof next door.

2. Upon arrival into our 9th floor room we discovered extremely dirty windows (to the point of not being able to see out of them) and peeling paint.

3. While I know a renovation was recently done, the paint was bubbling and peeling in the bathroom and things were a bit tired.

4. Did not love the weird layout of meeting space, the tiniest of bathrooms (like an airplane kind of small), the holes in the wall, peeling wallpaper and the haphazard feel of the sleeping rooms - it was kind of like seeing your crazy, tiny, old, graying aunt all tarted up for an evening of cocktails.

5. When showering, one couldn't help but notice the peeling paint from the walls and the ceiling.

6. -The bath tube has been re-coated but is quickly and visibly peeling.

8. First room = paint peeling in the bottom of the bath/shower - not hygienic.

9. The Sir Francis Drake is an older hotel and although we had an Executive King room it seemed rather dated, the closets smelled very musty, the bathroom door wouldn't close, the bathtub had been painted and the paint was peeling off and flaking into the tub, there was no space for placing toiletries or hairdryer, broken ice maker on our floor, no wine reception held at this location (they will give you a coupon for free glass of house wine in bar however), a sad workout room, no spa or saunas like at other Kimpton hotels, and pretty flat front desk personnel (except for the Concierge).
"Kimpton Hotel Monaco a better choice in Union Square " Read full review on TripAdvisor   1/27/2011 Vote
10. Yes, I understand this is a historic hotel, but does that mean that for $200 a night (and my co got a deal) the paint on the ceiling should be peeling, and the wallpaper should be bubbling, the fabric headboard should be stained and the baseboard should be marred and damaged? The room that they gave me is so tiny that I believe the bed is a double, smaller than a full size.
