1. The cross-dressed guys out at the street are pretty cool (OK, I guess they are supposed to be Sir Francis Drake-like); the 21st floor night club is seriously dated, but kind of an icon.

3. The restaurant was very good and the Starlight Room was fun with great views of the city and decent music (although it closed at the end of July for renovations so check on the opening date).

7. The Sir Francis Drake is an older hotel and although we had an Executive King room it seemed rather dated, the closets smelled very musty, the bathroom door wouldn't close, the bathtub had been painted and the paint was peeling off and flaking into the tub, there was no space for placing toiletries or hairdryer, broken ice maker on our floor, no wine reception held at this location (they will give you a coupon for free glass of house wine in bar however), a sad workout room, no spa or saunas like at other Kimpton hotels, and pretty flat front desk personnel (except for the Concierge).
"Kimpton Hotel Monaco a better choice in Union Square " Read full review on TripAdvisor   1/27/2011 Vote
