3. unfortunately, Hotel 17 does not give you any discount when the second person decides to cancel out last minute (as happened to me), nor did they have a single room left to move me into, which was a bit of a bummer, but the 300 dollar rate was still better than anything else I could find for New Years Eve at that late date.

5. unfortunately, breakfast was not available in the hotel but we enjoyed a cheap (but plentiful) breakfast from street vendors, which we ate in the Union Squar park.

6. The rooms are fairly small, and the room keys are cards that unfortunately resemble the phone cards one purchases to make cheap calls.

8. Not to forget the affordable discount rate of $140 per week for a (very small) single room, something that certainly has changed since then, unfortunately.
