1. downsides are the relatively poor noise insulation of at least my room and the basement level hotel restaurant which is not exactly a cosy place for single travelers who would be better advised to seek other options in the area or order room service.

2. A minor downside is that depending on where you want to go, you'll have to take a cab, but it was not a problem because the hotel's neighborhood was quiet.

3. I suppose the only possible downside to the Giraffe is the lack of it's own restaurant but then who wants to eat in a hotel rather than experience the variety of eating at one of the many restaurants available on your doorstep?Overall, a great hotel in a great location, we would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting New York.

8. One slight downside - the road could be quite noisy in the early morning (4am?) as the rubbish was collected, but this is more a comment on packed-in cities like New York than the hotel.

9. The only downside was the noise from the traffic outside, maybe because we were only on the 3rd floor, so ask for a room a little higher up and that may help.
