1. All in all - a great place to stay (disregarding the resort fee).

Pros:- The grounds are well-kept and very nicely landscaped with lush plants & koi ponds- Super friendly staff (concierge, check-in, housekeepers)- Right on the beach w/ access to shower and Lava's bar & pool- Included in the resort fee was an evening tidepool tour - I recommend, was fun!- Could check out free beach towels & snorkel/fins for $15 for 24/hours at the activity center- A block away from Poipu beach park - the best snorkeling, saw a seaturtleCons:- The garden view was nice, but not as nice as the new section of the resort.

6. Now, you can't take an alcoholic beverage to the Garden Wing (the mixed drinks have gone-up in price by $2.00 since last year - so I did save my money from drinking less) The resort fee, once included (evening entertainment - now replaced by music in the afternoon in Lavas), and a free mai-tai cocktail hour (now you get a ticket for one mai-tai during your trip).

7. Ocean front room for $199 a night (before taxes and hotel fees), with a free car rental and free breakfast.
